Bienvenue! Welcome to our Parkview Middle School French Exploratory Wiki!
We are a 6th and 7th grade middle school. Each grade level studies French as an exploratory class for nine weeks. At the end of 7th grade, students select French or Spanish to continue studying in 8th grade.
Why should I take a language?
·Language experts consistently mention French, Spanish, Arabic, German, Chinese, and Japanese as key languages to learn.
·Whatever language you choose to study, the most common benefits are cultural understanding, friendship, and a greater spirit of tolerance.
·Students who study another language regardless of the language studied score higher on ACT/SAT tests than students who do not study another language
·Great travel opportunities
·Ankeny High School has two family stay programs with our sister cities in France and Mexico.
·Travel trips have included Quebec, Spain, Mexico, and European combos such as France, London, and Ireland
·College Credit while still in High School (4 hours of DMACC credit for each level 4 and 5)
·Meets the requirement for graduation at many colleges and universities and opens the door to new possibilities.

One thing we would like to know, is why is it important to learn another language? If there has been a time in your life that you have benefited from speaking another language or really wished you knew another language please tell us about that experience.
